Asphalt is a popular material used for driveways. You need professional asphalt contractors to get the job done right. This video shows how they go about their work to install your asphalt driveway.
The first stage is to prep the sub-grade, or base level of the driveway. Workers make sure the soil under the driveway is leveled for water drainage away from the home. The water needs to get off the asphalt, too.
Rocks and gravel will also be removed. Anything the contractors feel move beneath their feet will be removed. Clay, sand, and topsoil will also be removed with roadbase, limestone, or more put in.
Driveways shouldn’t be crowned, either. There should be a steady pitch from one edge to the other. Crowning asphalt can lead to premature damage, and bad contractors use this as a way to rip homeowners off.
Rollers then compact the subgrade and an herbicide is put down to make sure weeds don’t ruin your driveway. Asphalt is then installed with an asphalt paving machine for even thickness and smoothness.
Once everything is laid out and compacted, it will be sealed, and your driveway is ready to go! For more information, click on the link to the video above.
