Sometimes You Can’t Just Count on Your Doctor

Urgent care cost

When it comes to our health and the wellness of our bodies, we as humans suffer from unforeseen events all of the time. Although it would be nice, we cannot simply predetermine when we are going to get sick or injure ourselves. This is why the services provided by urgent medical care facilities are of such great importance.

Did you know that as a whole, Americans get approximately one billion colds every year? Now think about the amount of doctors, the amount of appointments, and the amount of time this requires of our medical professionals, there is no way we can just depend on our primary care physicians to take care of everything. There are not many primary care offices that are opened after hours, so that is why emergency rooms are constantly backed up and overloaded with patents who in reality probably do not even need to be there.

Back in 2010, there was a study conducted by the Rand Corporation that concluded nearly one in every five visits to hospitals ERs could have been treated at an urgent facility, potentially saving about $4.4 billion a year in health care costs, and we all know that our country could use all the savings it can manage at this point. Urgent cares are meant to ease the burden on emergency rooms by treating the injuries and illnesses that are not life threatening. Once a visit is made to an after hours urgent care center, a patent is often told to follow up with their primary care doctor to ensure everything is okay.

Immediate medical care is needed every single day and every single night, and chances of injury and illness never sleep, so we are lucky to have medical professionals that do not sleep either. They are here for our safety, our care, and they are here when no one else is. There are 24 hour urgent care centers in most locations, so you can literally go to one of these places whenever you feel the need.

Urgent medical care centers account for about $14 billion of the United States annual Revenue. One of the main drivers for the growth of this industry is the increasing caseload of primary care physicians, which leads to difficulties in appointment scheduling, long waiting, and less time to send with patents.

  1. I have an urgent care facility up the street from my home, and I also have three little ones right now. I feel as if one of my kids is sick every week. Lets just say I’m thankful for the urgent care place right up the street.

  2. Yeah i bet thats pretty clutch to have that right near you. Where I am living the closest one is like 25 mins away but the hospital is right around the corner, so im one of those people that goes to the ER
